The old rockin' chair

Hi Reader, The rockin' chair Sitting in its massive cradle of arms, back, and seat, I wondered out loud, “Why does it keep rocking? “ “Because you’re little.” Like that was an answer. I could curl up in the seat of my grandmother’s rocker and once I got it moving it would keep it up for a surprisingly long time… long time in kid-time. Only a grown-up could move this massive wooden piece of furniture to wherever it was needed. There it seemed to just wait quietly and patiently. And, like a...

Shallow breathing is good if you are stalking an animal to bring home for dinner or if you need to give a quick explanation when a boss asks you about a project. But if practiced habitually, small and restricted chest movements can cause many unwanted results and symptoms in your body, such as awkward posture, painful structures, and poorly functioning organs. Although subtle, the relentless clenching of being ready for something requires the sympathetic nervous system to be “on” and results...

Have you ever wondered why you can’t accomplish a specific task, or why you are not where you want to be in life? Ideally, consciousness and unconsciousness work to complement each other, but when these processes are battling at cross-purposes, indecision or poor decisions rob you of your energy and undermine your goals. Writing regularly in a journal may be the sauce that holds them together. Writing honest reflections is a good way to bring these aspects into full view. You can start now...

Hi Reader, Let's face it. The fall season is when we want to eat a lot. I, for one, find myself slowing down when I have to walk through the kitchen, just glancing around to see if anything needs to be eaten. Are we genetically programmed to gain weight in the fall? Here is my thinking about bears, geese, cows, and you ... You Are Not a Goose. - Glorious Health Coaching Go to website Talk to Jolinda - Click to Schedule

One of my friends pointed out that I didn't actually give a source for dry yogurt culture to use as starter when you are beginning your yogurt for the first time. Here is a site that will get things "started". That is an OK place to start, but in the interest of shopping locally and supporting small businesses, I recommend you go to your favorite natural foods store and ask them what they have available. https://jolindarockett.com/the-culture-of-yogurt/ Now I have a favor to ask because I...

The world is wonky and I have trouble understanding why or what to do. Somehow, we need to rescue civility from this downward spiral. But there are bright spots. Today, our local volunteer "support group for the elderly" brought my husband his weekly sack lunch. Of course, he donates cash, but many can't. The lunches have been getting bigger and bigger with lots of variety - homemade cookies, biscuits, salads, soups, and even more. It is delivered with smiles and jokes and time to listen....

it is not what you eat between Christmas and New Year's. It's what you eat between New Year's and Christmas. Over the holidays, my tip-of-the-fork tastings morphed into frequent re-loads - otherwise known as shoveling it in. Ugh. It is time to reel it back, give the systems inside a rest, and do it without dieting or starving (same thing). Are you curious about that Keto-thing? Or maybe you have come to the conclusion, based on experience, that dieting just brings guilt, starvations, and, in...

Clients come to me to address diet because I practice acupuncture but also teach a Paleo – Keto – Carnivore Continuum. They expect questions about food. So it surprises them when I ask for a list of symptoms, or things that are not wonderful. Once they start listing things for me, they often apologize because they don’t want to sound like complainers. But it just finally hits them that there is a lot that needs attention. Where do you begin? You first have to know what you want to change....

I know that the perspective of Paleo - Keto - Carnivore does not have the loudest megaphone. Understand it when I hear my clients explain how they have to defend their new dietary choices. My advice: Stand up straight and demonstrate courage. Remember the scarecrow, tin man, and lion of the Wizard of Oz. They were seeking heart, brain (mind), and fearlessness to call on when really needed. These 3 qualities translate into Courage. The word courage begins with cœur, French for heart. And when...
